Our Story

Florrie and Seymour Morgenstern

Twenty-two years ago, Florrie and Seymour Morgenstern mobilized their friends to establish Spanish River Concerts, with the vision of presenting four community concerts. The initiative extended Florrie's lifelong passion for music — a passion rooted in her childhood.

Florrie grew up in a single-parent household with limited financial resources, but her mother, Minnie, was determined to provide cultural enrichment despite severe constraints, and secured piano instruction from a teacher willing to offer lessons at an affordable rate. That opportunity nurtured Florrie's deep love of music and instilled a core belief: everyone should be afforded the opportunity to enjoy the arts, regardless of financial means.

The organization has evolved significantly since its inaugural season. Spanish River Concerts now presents world-class performances throughout each winter season, and the community's generosity has transformed SRC into a vital cultural institution serving thousands as a meaningful source of social and artistic enjoyment.

Though Florrie and Seymour have passed away, their legacy continues through their son Jeff, who serves as Executive and Artistic Director and leads the SRC team.
